Dependencies in META-INF/MANIFEST.MF vs jboss-deployment-structure.xml

Is there any difference in behaviour in adding a dependency in in the manifest and creating the module dependency in the jboss-deployment-structure.xml ?

Or should they be synonyms?

They do the same thing, jboss-deployment-structure.xml just gives you more options (e.g. you can do a partial import and only get the package you want).
