maxandersen Jul 22, 2011 10:05 AM (in response to jantimw)if opening the debug ui does not and you can reproduce this problem - then please open a bug outlining what happens and what OS/environment you are running with.
And if there are any errors in logs that would be useful to know too.

3. Re: JBoss 7 AS suddenly no longer shows log in eclipse console view
jantimw Jul 22, 2011 11:25 AM (in response to maxandersen)I was able to solve the problem just a couple of minutes ago
Apparently something caused my AS to not shut down properly, so it was running in the background whereas eclipse was telling me that it stopped. Everytime I tried to start/stop the server again in eclipse, nothing really happend but it didn't told me that the server was still running either. Instead eclipse told me that the server started correctly but now it is obviously why nothing showed up in the console view.
After killing the server process that was running in the background manually, starting it again with eclipse shows the server log in the console view once again and everything is back to normal. I was missing a "server already running"-message when starting it in eclipse, that would have been helpful.
Anyway, thanks for your help!

4. Re: JBoss 7 AS suddenly no longer shows log in eclipse console view
maxandersen Jul 22, 2011 11:47 AM (in response to jantimw)okey - yes, this is a "gotcha" bug in M2; our next release (you can try it in nightly builds if you dare) will tell you it already detected another server.

maxandersen Jul 22, 2011 11:48 AM (in response to maxandersen)...and then you get the choice to cancel or launch anyway in case you know better

6. Re: JBoss 7 AS suddenly no longer shows log in eclipse console view
menegazzo Jul 26, 2011 8:16 AM (in response to maxandersen)Facing the same problem. I tried the nightly build, but it completely crashed my eclipse. Then i restored my backup and everything was ok during some time, and happened again. The only message at error log was a warning: "NLS missing message: J2EEModuleExportOperation_ErrorExportingArchive in: org.jboss.ide.eclipse.as.ui.Messages", but seems not related.
The "correct answer" above simply does not work for me. There are no process running, only eclipse.
Is there any kind of quick fix i can do? Now i'm running JBoss "from outside" eclipse.

7. Re: JBoss 7 AS suddenly no longer shows log in eclipse console view
davided80 Jul 27, 2011 7:33 AM (in response to jantimw)I faced a similar problem an Indigo, this was my error log
javax.naming.CommunicationException: Could not obtain connection to any of these urls: localhost:1099 and discovery failed with error: java.lang.ClassCastException: java.lang.Boolean cannot be cast to java.lang.String [Root exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1099 [Root exception is javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException: Failed to connect to server localhost:1099 [Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused]]]
I tried the nightly build an indigo and now it seems it detects a running instance even when no other server is running. If I decide to launch it anyway everything works fine though.

8. Re: JBoss 7 AS suddenly no longer shows log in eclipse console view
maxandersen Jul 28, 2011 4:24 AM (in response to davided80)Davide, could you please open an issue on https://jira.jboss.org/jira/browse/JBIDE outlining what you did to get server detected when no other server was running ? That shouldn't happen unless there actually is something that looks like a server to us

9. Re: JBoss 7 AS suddenly no longer shows log in eclipse console view
davided80 Aug 25, 2011 9:45 AM (in response to maxandersen)I've reinstalled all the plugins from scratch and the problem is disappeared.
I believe I've played with too many plugins .
Thanks for the great tools!
