Getting started with HA/clustering in JBoss AS 7?

Hello All,

I have been tasked with evaluating and prototyping a new clustered container solution.  We are seeking horizontal scalability for a large workload.  JBoss AS 7 is at the top of my list.  However, I need to figure out how to use the clustering in JBoss AS 7.  I have very little experience clustering JBossAS.

What documentation is available?  I can see the final docs aren't ready yet.  Are there beta docs or blog posts?  If not, I am happy to stumble through docs or blog posts written for previous versions.

What's the best place to get started? 

I need to familiarize myself with JBoss HA offerings and get enough information to build a proof-of-concept application.

there, you can find a thread http://community.jboss.org/thread/170497?tstart=0 where i try to get deeper with clustering

expectations are great but imho JB AS7.0.0 is quite stuck with clustering...

behind the corner lies 7.0.1 (you can get it as a nightly build... it seems to be quite ready) which fix an issue about distributable web applications but remoting comes with 7.1 which is expected to be released in the end of the year (roadmap at https://issues.jboss.org/browse/AS7)

it the webinar linked in the thread by Paul, you'll also see that clustered statefull beans will come with 7.1

it's a pain you have to provide your analysis now instead of January

AS7 features are (by my side) a good reason to wait, i'm falling in love for jboss modules and domains.... moreover EAP 6 will be AS7-based

i'm testing the AS7 to choose now and deliver in the end of the year or begin of 2012... and clustering is quite thrilling right now... i'll probably take the risk anyway

I do work for a moderately large company, so actual deployments may happen 6 months after the prototype is completed.  We do have a legacy code base we have to migrate from JBoss EAP 4.3.  JBoss AS 7.1 may be out in time.

The JBoss team members have done a great job of building enthusiasm for their products and via grassroots enthusiasm and developer-community activity.  Corporate developers like me are taking the bait and getting our large companies to evaluate their products, for purchase. 

Now guys like me just have to get working prototypes out to persuade executive teams to invest more money and resources into upgrading and embracing all the technologies Red Hat has been promoting.
