Is the EJB Timer Service available via CDI outside EJBs?

It looks as though we can use the @Schedule annotation within EJBs in AS7 now, but can we access the timer service in a similarly neat fashion via CDI?

Currently the implentation is tied into AS 7. What you can do is create an EJB that handles the incoming timer callback and defers to an injected CDI bean.

For the future it depends on the resolution of EJB_SPEC-2, but I think we may want to tech preview it.
