Does RichFaces 4 work on JBoss 4.2.3 GA ?

I need to make a decision on upgrading RichFaces 3.2 to RichFaces X .

We have some problems with some version of the most commonly used browsers.

I'm evaluating to jump from 3.2 to 4 but I have some restrictions:

• JBoss 4.2.3 GA as default container (95% of apps. are running on it with RichFaces 3.2.2)
• JBoss 5.1 as future container for future projects (Projects envisioned for the next 3 years counting from Q3/2011)

I didn't find any documentation related on this or any helpful changelog. I'm new on the community.

Any help will be very appreciated.

Hi Luis AFAIK it needs a JSF 2 implementation which is only available in JBoss AS 6.0 and above. I would also recommend that you rather use JBoss AS 7.0 as this is the version upon which JBoss Enterprise 6.0 will be based.

I tried our testing application on JBoss 4.2.3.GA and it worked fine. However, RF 4 is not supported on JBoss 4. I suggest you to try JBoss 6 for new projects.

Thanks to everyone. Each answer has been very useful.

I'm now evaluating RichFaces 3.3.3 + JBoss 5.1 combination for supporting some of the most commonly used browsers (IE from 7 to 9 especially).

Any comment on this will be welcomed.

Hi Luis,

there should be no problems with RF 3.3.3.Final on JBoss AS 5.1. Just be aware of the fact that IE9 did not exist during 3.3.3.Final release and therefore there might be some problems.
