guinotphil Oct 21, 2011 5:18 AM (in response to aupres)If you want to set the jvmRoot of your app server, you should set this in standalone.xml
<server xmlns="urn:jboss:domain:1.0"
xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">
<extensions>
.....
</extensions>
<system-properties>
<property name="jvmRoute" value="......"/>
...
</system-properties>
...

aupres Oct 21, 2011 6:43 AM (in response to guinotphil)Which Element is the parent element of <system-properties> element?
I inserted <system-properties> element into <server> element. then jboss 7
threw exception like below..
ERROR [stderr] Caused by: javax.xml.stream.XMLStreamException: ParseError at [row,col]:[271,5]
19:26:50,806 ERROR [stderr] Message: Unexpected element '{urn:jboss:domain:1.0}system-properties' encountered

rhusar Oct 21, 2011 8:54 AM (in response to aupres)Hey Josephh, Guino is right. You can always check jboss-as-7.0.2.Final/docs/schema and the appropriate xsd schema. There you will find that the order of items in standalone.xml actually does matter so it really needs to be right below <extensions> element and nowhere else.

guinotphil Mar 8, 2012 4:45 AM (in response to aupres)Hello,
It looks like with AS 7.1.1-SNAPSHOT the place where to define jvmRoute has changed. Now it must be set in in web subsystem as the instance id:
<subsystem xmlns="urn:jboss:domain:web:1.1"... instance-id="{jvmroute}">
