Oryx designer and Guvnor - changed bpmn 2 diagrams are not saved. Only the first version.

Hello,

I am unsure if my configuration is correct. I am running on App server 7 - lightning (actually with Switchyard). I have the guvnor version 5.3.0.cr1 and the oryx designer 1.0.0.056. When I create a new BPMN 2 diagram, I must enter the id and the package name in order to save the diagram. Otherwise it opens up blank even after a SAVE.

However, if I do fill in the id and package name under Properties -> More Properties, the original file is saved. On returning and updating the diagram, I save again. I see a new version under the meta data - but when I open it - my changes are lost. I see the first file I changed - even if this is version 2.

What do I need to do in order to save my changes? It is rare to get it right the first time!

Hi Lillian,

You need to set the package name attribute value to your guvnor package in order to build the package, but not to save a process. Setting the id of a process is also not required to save the process in guvnor.

There has to be something in your server log that indicates possible parsing error(s) during saving of the process, can you please look?

I am guessing here but it seems you may not have Guvnor and Designer running on the same server/port/host..is this true?

Hello Tihomir,

I use this url to start the guvnor:
localhost:8080/drools-guvnor

I have drools-guvnor.war and designer.war deployed to my standalone/deployments directory. The guvnor opens the designer for me. Here is an image. You can see the properties on the right. I then save this version - colored it (nice feature btw). When I open it up - it is still without the colors I added - but there is a new version in the metadata.

After the save - you can see the new version - yet the diagram changes (the colors are not there). I do appreciate your help! Thank you for your very timely response.

Notice too that the properties are blank. I am not sure why that is.

Sorry I don't see the image shown as per your last post. Is anything printed to your server logs after a save? Seeing the screenshots I think will help better understand the problem so please post them.

What are the Guvnor and Web Designer versions used (for Web Designer there is a button in the toolbar that shows you the version info, Its a round image with an "I" in.

Wow, you just found a nice bug Can you please raise a jBPM Bug Jira ( https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBPM ) and set the "Designer" in the Component dropdown list..also assign me as the owner and I'll make sure this gets fixed asap.

For now, don't change the background color of process nodes...sorry.

I created a bug jira - but did not find that button to assign it to your name. (I sure wish those buttons were missing in more places)

It's interesting because I chose the one test case (coloring) and did not test any other changes. Go figure.

It's really a very nice product. Thank you for all your hard work!

https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBPM-3412 has been resolved and fix will be available in the next release jBPM Web Designer version scheduled next week. In the meantime I have pushed the fix to http://people.redhat.com/tsurdilo/oryx/latest/ for you to test it (this is _not_ an official release!). Let me know if you still run into any issues regarding JBPM-3412 with it.
