Ivy dependency problem with Infinispan 5.x

Hi guys,

I'm trying to pull infinispan-core 5.0.1.Final(also tried 5.1.0.Beta1) with Ivy 2.1.0. On WIndows/Eclipse environment it works only when I specify in my ivysettings.xml:

<property name="packaging" value="jar"/>

If that line is omitted there's an error in Eclipse as follows:

Some projects fail to be resolved

Impossible to resolve dependencies of xyz#;357

download failed: org.infinispan#infinispan-core;5.1.0.BETA1!infinispan-core.${packaging}

However, on Linux/Ant 1.7 this fails even when there's a property value defined for packaging in my ivysettings.xml. I have been jumping through hoops, but cannot get my build to pull infinispan-core on the Linux build box. Any help would be much appreciated.

The parent pom clearly indicates what the packaging property value should be (value: jar):

https://repository.jboss.org/nexus/content/groups/public/org/infinispan/infinispan-parent/5.1.0.BETA1/infinispan-parent-5.1.0.BETA1.pom

No idea why Ivy ignores it, maybe it's not finding the parent pom? If it did not, it would not be able to determine thirdparty library versions either.

Galder,

There's definitely a problem with how Infinispan is setup with Ivy. I was able to get it working, but in a hacky way. If I don't clean my ivy cache from one build to the next build it retrieves most of the dependencies. If the ivy cache is cleaned and the dependencies have to be resolved again it gives that ${packaging} error. The other problem is the infinispan-query dependency doesn't retrieve lucene-core. I had to include an explicit dependency in my own ivy.xml.

Can somebody please take a look at this Ivy problem closer? All you need is Eclipse, IvyDE plugin for Eclipse and a simple Java project.

Dmitry, why don't you open a JIRA with the issues you've found so far in https://issues.jboss.org/browse/ISPN ?

Btw, we don't have a particular Ivy set up, we're just using maven as is. Could it be a problem in ivy itself?

Also, you seem to be pretty knowledgeable in ivy, so maybe you can tackle this yourself?

This problem occurs when using gradle to pull infinispan as well. I fixed it by replacing all of the ${packaging} parameters with 'jar' and then rebuilding. Using gradle we have less control over ivy, so ivy specific fixes aren't that useful.

Why is packaging parametric? Can it be changed?
