trong.tran Nov 7, 2011 2:44 AM (in response to poornima.abhi)There is a feature *Data Import* which seems to be suitable with your need BUT unfortunately it was done in latest development verion of GateIn trunk only https://issues.jboss.org/browse/GTNPORTAL-2104

3. Re: How to overwrite the existing portal object
nscavell Nov 17, 2011 4:53 AM (in response to poornima.abhi)Correct, GateIn 3.2 will have the concept of an 'importMode' to manage importing data from configuration. Supported values are 'conserve', 'insert', 'merge', and 'overwrite', where 'merge' is configured as the default 'importMode'. Conserve will only import data when data for that site does not exist. Insert will import data only when it does not exist. Merge will import new data and override existing data. Overwrite will delete existing data and import the new.
Our sample extension can give you an idea what this looks like here: https://anonsvn.jboss.org/repos/gatein/portal/trunk/examples/extension/war/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/conf/sample-ext/portal/portal-configuration.xml. You will see the 'importMode' parameter with a value of merge.
