Discovery via UDP network requirements?

I can only seem to get cluster discovery to work via UDP if all the machines are on the same span. (e.g. my HornetQ severs are 10.0.2.35 and 10.0.2.37 and my consumer on 10.0.2.13 can connect just fine but my producer on 10.0.31.9 can't.) Is this a requirement or do I need to talk with the network people here again?

This is really an issue for your network guys, they just need to allow UDP traffic on the network for the addresses you use
