1. Re: How to configure a valve for all web applications deployed to JBoss AS 7.1?
jfclere Dec 9, 2011 5:32 AM (in response to dbschofield)No there are no plan to have global valve in AS7.

2. Re: How to configure a valve for all web applications deployed to JBoss AS 7.1?
dbschofield Dec 9, 2011 9:52 AM (in response to jfclere)That's disappointing.
I need a means to apply an SSO authenticator which uses an upstream cookie/token for authentication for a large number of web applications in my environment. Would prefer to not write automation to update context.xml files in every application. A valve at the engine scope worked well in AS 5.1. Are there any other alternatives to achieve this with AS7?

3. Re: How to configure a valve for all web applications deployed to JBoss AS 7.1?
dastraub Dec 9, 2011 8:12 PM (in response to dbschofield)I agree to Ben - we use also valves for different use cases and I wondering that this feature isn't no longer available.

4. Re: How to configure a valve for all web applications deployed to JBoss AS 7.1?
jfclere Dec 12, 2011 4:01 AM (in response to dastraub)There are 2 valves in the web subsystem an SSO one and the rewrite valve. They should cover most needs.
If you really need something global is possible to extend the web subsystem and write your own subsystem that will support global valves.

5. Re: How to configure a valve for all web applications deployed to JBoss AS 7.1?
dbschofield Dec 12, 2011 10:11 AM (in response to jfclere)Unfortunately the SSO and rewrite valves won't cover my needs.
Are the valve configurations in the web subsystem intentionally omitted or just a potential feature that has not been addressed yet? If they are intentionally omitted what is the reasoning behind that decision?

6. Re: How to configure a valve for all web applications deployed to JBoss AS 7.1?
jfclere Dec 13, 2011 2:46 AM (in response to dbschofield)It has been removed to allow the AS7 management to work correctly.
