You may use onclick="mFunc()" event on rich:treeNode and a4j:jsFunction.
onclick must call function <a4j:jsFunction name="mFunc" actionListener="#{myBean....}" render="..."/>

Is there another way to do this?, I think i am missing some rich:tree attribute to set, which i could not understand.
