IE8 message "Addon Failed to Run" when running Richfaces

I am using RichFaces 3.3 Final and I am encountering a weird error whenever I load my page on IE8:

"An add on for this site has failed to run..." I am getting this even when running with no add-ons.

So I suspect it was the javascript in Richfaces.  Whenever I sort a column in rich:datatable, i can no longer click on the link in

the datatable row.

Anybody seen this before? I try adding the meta tag "X-UA-Compatible" "IE=EmulateIE7" and still not working

To follow up,

I was able to solve this by adjusting my "Internet Zone" security setting to Medium-High(previously set to High by admins). However, I am curious why my app is running in an intranet zone and attempt to access outside of the intranet zone?

Can anyone explain
