      This empty web-beans.xml file concept as a marker (metadata as a file?) seems like a similar tactic used in Seam with the seam.properties file:



      Requiring the presence of a marker file is a JVM classloader optimization that works to pare down the number of classpath entries that must be scanned for components.

      Excuse my lack of understanding of the servlet spec and/or JBoss/JVM but I'd like to think that the empty web-beans.xml file can be removed and replaced with metadat in the web.xml DD...
