1. Re: Next Release of CDI RI?
graben Feb 17, 2009 8:12 PM (in response to thejavafreak)Hi Joshua,
I don't know which release do you mean but I think you mean either alpha1 or alpha2 of the webbeans ri. well you do not have to wait for an cdi ri since webbeans ri is still the reference implementation of the jsr 299. So there is no and won't be any difference.

nickarls Feb 18, 2009 3:25 PM (in response to thejavafreak)(in fact there won't be any CDI RI at all since the name will remain Web Beans for the RI) :-)

4. Re: Next Release of CDI RI?
nickarls Feb 19, 2009 4:45 PM (in response to thejavafreak)I think JCDI is only used among three or four people in the entire world (and they are in the EG), the rest still use the term
Web Beans
;-)Yes. The
Web Beans RI
will sooner or later pass the TCK for the JSR-299 -

pmuir Feb 27, 2009 12:19 PM (in response to thejavafreak)Nik, to avoid confusion, we should say
Web Beans, the RI (reference implementation) of JSR-299
.Just as other RIs have names (e.g. the Java EE RI is called Glassfish), so does the RI of JSR-299 :-)

6. Re: Next Release of CDI RI?
thejavafreak Mar 2, 2009 11:44 PM (in response to thejavafreak)So the Spec itself is called JCDI, but the implementation is called Webbeans?

7. Re: Next Release of CDI RI?
nickarls Mar 3, 2009 9:07 PM (in response to thejavafreak)Close, but not exacly ;-)
The implementation developed here is called
Web Beans
. There are (or will be) other implementations of the said spec, e.g. OpenWebBeans from the ASF.
