The idea is to make this impl detail, as this was never
per spec
behavior.e.g. we don't wanna put people on the wrong track or make them think about this use case

I am using GF 3.1 and do not have such a Listener class ?!This Listener is only used when you're running in non-appserver web container; e.g. Tomcat or Jetty
In your case GF is handling the integration, hence you need to check GF's code if they expose BM in servlet context.
