In case anyone else is playing with it too, the jboss-seam-jbas5.jar is in the Seam 2.0.1 distribution under lib/interop.

But what does the VFSScanner do to Seam? Is this library compulsory? I'm thinking to use JBoss AS 5 in the future.

Yes, it is compulsory.
