Yes, the part is beeing re-rendered and the scrollbar looses its
position. Could you please tell me, how to conserve the position
of the scrollbar.
Please note, that the site is running as a Richfaces page.
Could you please give me a precise info, how to read out
the state of the scrollbar ?? -

Looks like you have to stick to JavaScript solution. Each AJAX action component contains event attributes "onbeforedomupdate" and "oncomplete" that are executed before AJAX update and after. You can use them to memorize and then restore scroll position. Check Google or any JavaScript reference/book for information on scrolling and JavaScript, e.g. https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/window.scrollTo.
