How do i control a scrollbar, that was introduced by a overf

Dear Sirs,

i successdully used a overflow:auto stylesheet, in order to
add consecutive input-textfield into a pane, that shows a
scrollbar with a dynamic list of entifies.

The question is, how to control the settong of a scrollbar.
Each time a button is pressed,, the scrollbar jumps back to
its initial position.
I would like to stay at my recent posiiton. How can i control this ?

You can use Javascript. BTW, are you re-rendering the whole overflowed element or just some its nested part?

Yes, the part is beeing re-rendered and the scrollbar looses its
position. Could you please tell me, how to conserve the position
of the scrollbar.

Please note, that the site is running as a Richfaces page.
Could you please give me a precise info, how to read out
the state of the scrollbar ??

the problem is, that an entry of the list and the surrounding panel
are beeing updated.

Groovie,

Looks like you have to stick to JavaScript solution. Each AJAX action component contains event attributes "onbeforedomupdate" and "oncomplete" that are executed before AJAX update and after. You can use them to memorize and then restore scroll position. Check Google or any JavaScript reference/book for information on scrolling and JavaScript, e.g. https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/window.scrollTo.
