how to connect from Seam to Java standalone application

(I am new in JBoss Seam)

I'm writing a standalone Java Application (multithreaded Java 6).
I want to use JBoss Seam as WEB interface to my standalone application.

Question 1:
What is the best way to connect from JBoss Seam to my standalone Java Application?

Question 2:
What is the best way to connect from standalone Java Application to my to JBoss Seam?

Forgive me such (probably obvious) questions :) I just need some hints / keywords. All other stuff I'll find in Seam documentation.

My preference on 2) would be web services where Seam integrates nicely with JbossWS. Look in the docs for @WebMethod.

1) is quite unfamiliar to me, but RMI or equivalent could be one option.
