The shady @ReadOnly annotation

The reference manual is just very briefly mentioning the @ReadOnly annotation.

Moreover, I can't see that any of the examples provided with Seam are using this annotation.

So ...

Could anyone please shed some light here. What do I use this for? For instance, is it suitable to put that annotation on entities that are immutable? What is the expected gain from annotating?

Ok, I dismissed the javadoc for Seam several months ago as being essentially empty. Maybe this has changed, or maybe this is an exception to the rule.

Either way, thanks for pointing me in that direction.
