performance issue regarding Transaction.instance()

Hi to all,

by profiling my application, I found out that 40% of the application time is spent on:

org.jboss.seam.transaction.Transaction.instance()

This method is mostly called by
org.jboss.seam.persistence.ManagedEntityIdentityInterceptor.isTransactionRolledBackOrMarkedRollback()
and ends up calling Ititialcontext.lookup() to obtain the UserTransaction from JNDI.
I am using Seam 2.0.2sp1 on Jboss 4.2.2.

Is there any way to avoid this performance penalty?

If you need an instant solution, disable the dreaded ManagedEntityIdentityInterceptor in Component.java. Christian Bauer
reported that he did this.
But better wait a while, Norman is working on a generic solution:
