found it out myself - I'm using filters now. Actually by extending the LoggingFilter of Seam, I have exaclty what I was looking for.

I am just curious, as the LoggingFilter has a special purpose: logging. You might violate the Seperation of Concern - pattern

joerg.joerg.schneider.e-custody.de Jul 9, 2008 7:23 PM (in response to joerg.joerg.schneider.e-custody.de)Hi,
thanks for your reply - actually I extended the LoggingFilter since beside the username, we also need to have additional information available within our log statements - most importantly the current thread number.
Since we run more than 10 applications all logging into the same log file, we need to have some filter criteria at hands how to seaparate which log statements belong to which application. The thread number (actually together with the thread pool name) is a perfect fir for us.Cheers, Joerg
