1. Re: Using onchange without AJAX on <h:selectOneListBox>
ericjava.eric.chiralsoftware.net Jul 31, 2008 8:00 PM (in response to haefti)It's so trivial to do this with a4j. If you have customers who are weird you can say no to their weird requests...

pmuir Aug 4, 2008 12:16 PM (in response to haefti)You can do this in JS - get hold of the button object, and call .click() on it.

Using an invisible button could be an opportunity but it is nothing I really prefer to do.

luxspes Aug 4, 2008 5:56 PM (in response to haefti)It could be easier to help you if you explained if theres is a logical reason for not using a4j

haefti Aug 4, 2008 6:00 PM (in response to haefti)The reason is called customer but it is not logical. ;-)

6. Re: Using onchange without AJAX on <h:selectOneListBox>
luxspes Aug 4, 2008 7:18 PM (in response to haefti)I have had my own share of crazy customer requests... but this one makes me really curious... your customer simply chose a particular .jar in you WEB-INF\lib and said
do no use this
? using some kind of ouija with the contents of WEB-INF\lib the alphabet? and what if the next time he selects jboss-seam.jar?I know this is a little bit off topic, but most of the craziest customer that have had do not even understand the contents of WEB-INF\lib (and are no masters of witchcraft, so they wouldn't use a Ouija to arbitrarily forbid some .jars inside ;-) ), so please forgive my curiosity... can you share your story? (Maybe we can come up with some kind of irrational argument that might convice your customer that another magical artifact makes it lawful to use a4j because it overrides the power of the ouija used to forbid it ;-) )

luxspes Aug 4, 2008 9:03 PM (in response to haefti)Or even easier, perhaps you could rename the .jar or rename the prefix in your .xhtml? or better start a fork named a5f (the name makes no sense, but neither the request of you customer) upload it to Google Code, download it, and then you tell your customer that
you are not using a4j anymore
;-). -

luxspes Aug 4, 2008 10:43 PM (in response to haefti)Mmmm, I am getting the weird feeling that maybe you customer didn't ask you to
not use a4j
but instead tonot use AJAX
... Am I right?
