Get bytes of rendered Excel file inside an action

Hi,

in my application I have an Excel view that renderes fine. I'm now looking for a way to get the content of the generated excel file inside an action method. Can I somehow render the Excel file from within an action method an get the bytes?
I've already tried to use the Renderer but I only get an emty HTML file as result.

are you using the exportKey attribute on the workbok also?

That's what I was looking for. I must have missed this in the documentation.
