Quickstart Guide 2.6 update

I'm trying to find out what stage things are at with the quickstart guide. I see that some work has been done to rev up the guide to 2.6, but I wanted to see where help is needed before diving into this.

I'm working on the user guide, not the quick start user guide :) I split work with Thomas: I work on the beginning and he works on chap 3 and 4.

Ok, so I'm going to tackle the quickstart guide. At first glance, It seems that mainly what is needed is a new rev of the screenshots, and some minor tweaks of the content. I'll make those changes, and try to post them here for review.

Hi all

I have updated chpater 1-4 with new screenshots. will finish the remaining parts shortly. 2 questions here:
1. Any contents needed for WSRP?
2. Chapter 5, portlets will be automatically instanced in v2.6? if so, some of the contents need to be deleted.

IMO, WSRP is not a priority for the QSG (but for the other guides)

You still need to create the instances (Since you can share instances in several windows, only the wizard mode creates each time a new instance for simplicity sake)

Simon and ChrisD please coordinate your efforts :) I see that Simon commited in trunk already, great ! Thanks.

Simon i looked at your changes, thanks a lot !
Image080.jpg is missing though (No png neither).

Also for everybody, let's standardize on:
- Firefox (So the buttons looks similar (even though it is not exactly the same accross versions/platform)
- No Web Browser surrounding for general screenshots (please crop your images)
- PNG format from now on

No need to redo everything for now, but as we update we should tend to something more coherent.

I see that most of commits go into trunk. Shouldn't they also be merged into 2.6 docs tag? Or will we retag the docs later?

Just now I uploaded all other JPG + PNG files in Chapter 4. All files are based on XP + Firfox @ 1024 x 768 (you may change it via PNG file though).

xhuang has me beat because I don't have write access to the repo. :)

I had just gotten started on chapter 4 and I was going top down working on the text and images at the same time.

Should we divide up the work in some way or are you already done? ;)

I do think we should add some new things like dashboard customization, and enabling workflow for CMS. As well, some of the items in the quickstart are a bit obsolete and should probably be removed (adding the Nav portlet near the bottom of chapter 4, for instance).

yes the guide should be revised and update for 2.6.1

I'm still working on the guide. There are a lot of little things that needed fixing. Also, I think we need to expand the guide a bit, but that might have to wait for 2.6.1.
