rgoytacaz Sep 9, 2009 6:49 PM (in response to rgoytacaz)Hmm..
What about getting help on seam?
This forum is the only place i can come to, and there are more questions then answers.
Can someone point me in a direction?
I thought seam was supposed to work out of the box.:(

mwohlf Sep 9, 2009 7:36 PM (in response to rgoytacaz)my guess is you are missing a log4j.properties file in the root of your classpath e.g. like this:
log4j.rootLogger=debug, A log4j.appender.A=org.apache.log4j.ConsoleAppender log4j.appender.A.layout=org.apache.log4j.PatternLayout log4j.appender.A.layout.ConversionPattern=%-4r [%t] %-5p %c %x - %m%n

rgoytacaz Sep 9, 2009 10:03 PM (in response to rgoytacaz)Hey Michael,
Thx for the prompt answer!
Should this come with seam already? or do I really have to create it?
I just downloaded seam and its giving me that error.

6. Re: How to fix log4j error on seam-gen?
mwohlf Sep 9, 2009 10:21 PM (in response to rgoytacaz)Seam logging automagically chooses whether to send output to log4j or JDK logging. If log4j is in the classpath, Seam will use it. If it is not, Seam will use JDK logging. It seems like you have log4j in your classpath but it is not configured correctly, I don't use seam-gen so I can't tell if this is the normal behavior.

bh5k.karlnielsenslc.gmail.com Sep 21, 2009 9:10 PM (in response to rgoytacaz)Did you ever get a fix for this? I am getting errors with the seam generate script and no error message is being produced, just the warning.

richard.clayton Jun 8, 2010 9:51 AM (in response to rgoytacaz)I found a really stupid-simple fix for this; I would say this probably isn't the best way go around this, but it works.
Get a copy of the log4j.properties file from the Hibernate tutorial (download it with the Hibernate distribution). Zip it up (winzip or whatever) and drop it in the {seam.dir} directory.
Open the build.xml in {seam.dir}\seam-gen directory.
Right After the
<target name="init-generate">
<path id="htools.classpath">
Add the following line:
<pathelement path="${seam.dir}log4j.zip" />
That's it.
