This is similar to using settings.xml in Maven for envmt specific setup. thx.

However this is how we are setting it.In components.xml
<core:init debug="@debug@" jndi-pattern="@jndiPattern@" />
And then we have components-dev.properties where the debug is set to true, and then we have components-prod.properties where debug is set to false. We also have created a script that copies the correct components.properties file depending on which server we want to deploy too. (Test, staging, prod etc).
In components.properties
jndiPattern myproject/\#{ejbName}/local debug true
