    Seam 2.3.0

    zeeman

      Hi,

I see that there is Jira branch for Seam 2.3.0. Any ideas on when to expect to get the final 2.3.0 release?

As you can see from various posts Seam 2.2 users want to migrate to JSF 2/newer jboss AS and it's not possible due to issues with Seam 2.2 and JSF 2.

Seam 3 is not stable enough for production, it takes a big effor to migrate from Seam 2 to 3. Seam 2.2 has issues running on AS 6 (check issues under 2.3.0) and does not work with JSF 2.

Pushing 2.3.0 ASAP will lets users migrate smoothly to Seam 3 and will keep them happy.

I have been checking out the source code of 2.3 branch periodically, but it seems the development progress is too slow.

Which branch have you been checking? There is a couple of Seam 2 forks to get it to work with JSF2.

I think you're talking about official Seam Jira branch.

I agree, Seam2 users are left to themselves and that's worrying and make me think a bit more on deciding to invest on Seam3.

Anyway if we had to support for JSF2 we would move to it first and then finally to Seam3 when every module (especially Cron and Mail) will be ready for production...

I used one of the 2.3.0 forks with JSF2. Deployed to AS7. Only issue is with Hibernate. I'm using Hibernate 3.6 and it does not work in AS7. Redhad has no solution for that especially Hibernate Search is used. This is sad.

Where did you find the fork?

The only Seam source I'm able to find is here:
