You should be doing:CacheManager cm = new DefaultCacheManager();
Checked in an updated CacheManager interface with correct javadocs [Revision 432] -

Yes, but then I want be able to set CacheManager configuration using an XML configuration file, as planned for ISPN-95. I believe this should be reported in jira as an improvement. -
