Java project not picking up pom dependices

I created a maven project with JBoss Tools and put dependices in the pom but the project does not seem to be using them.

There is a .m2 repository that was created. Is there anything besides installing JBoss Tools that I need to do.

Right click the Project, choose Maven > Update Project Configuration and it should reread the pom.xml and refresh the dependencies.
