1. Re: How to configure a class folder path into an ear
jaikiran Feb 22, 2012 1:55 AM (in response to coolsky)You can package those classes in a jar and place that jar in the .ear/lib folder.

coolsky Feb 22, 2012 2:15 AM (in response to jaikiran)Thanks for the reply. I thought about that and know that will work. But I am wondering if there is a way to load my class files in a folder instead of packaging them in a jar. I know the very older version JBoss 4 can do this (adding lib\classes folder in the class-path entry in a META-INF.mf file). Can you confirm if JBoss 7 can still have a way to do this?

Could you please confirm my question and suggest if there is any way to do this in JBoss 7?
Thanks so much!

5. Re: How to configure a class folder path into an ear
rsinghal Feb 22, 2012 7:24 AM (in response to coolsky)You can copy classes folder in lib folder and create a classpth jar with manifest entry then JBoss picks it up.

coolsky Feb 22, 2012 9:04 PM (in response to rsinghal)Hi Ravi, Many thanks for your informatiton. But I have tried and it doesn not seem to work. I put a class-path entry "classes" in another jar's manifest file (classes folder is in lib folder same as the jar), but JBoss seems still unable to find any class from the classes folder. Any thoughts?
Thanks

7. Re: How to configure a class folder path into an ear
coolsky Feb 23, 2012 8:51 PM (in response to coolsky)Can anyone here confirm if JBoss 7 can recognize the class folder or not? If not, I will move to use a packaged jar instead. But anyway using a class folder is pretty useful for me. Could anyone suggest how to do this if there is indeed a method? Thanks so much in advance.

sfcoy Feb 23, 2012 9:55 PM (in response to coolsky)It might help if you can explain why doing this is useful to you. There may be better ways of accomplishing the same thing.

9. Re: How to configure a class folder path into an ear
coolsky Feb 23, 2012 11:16 PM (in response to sfcoy)One reason is I have some configuration files like properties and hibernate configuration xml or other project related resource files put under the class folder and currently I can not have them read successfully by JBoss as they are in the class folder.
The other reason is I may put patches with class files only to my ear project. So using a class folder can deploy the class files in it easily without need to package them to a jar again and again.
Thanks so much for the reply.

ohmygod Jun 27, 2012 2:51 AM (in response to coolsky)I am also upgrading my server to version 7.1.1.Final, and I am the similar problem: how to make JBoss load a class file in some folder first instead of loading the same class packaged in a jar.
Can JBoss 7 do this?
