HornetQ committers: ACTION NEEDED -- 1 MINUTE!

Hi guys,

SVN is becoming a real pain. As part of exploring options to move HornetQ project to Git, I need a list of committers with their real names and email addresses associated with GitHub.

This is needed to ensure that we end up with nice, clean and readable repo and that committers are propertly given creted for their contributions. As part of this people committing with different usernames (yes, like Clebert :-) ) will be merged into 1 committer.

Please take a minute to edit https://community.jboss.org/wiki/HornetQGitMigration--AuthorsList for yourself and other commiters that you know that might not even be active anymore.

There is no concept of "username" in Git! The git uses for commits same format as email does:

Your Real Name <[e-mail]>

So its real name and email address that we need in that document. Only then when the repo is at github it will associate that email address with that github username. You can add multiple email addresses for each user account/name.

What will happen with the ones we can't find?

Yeah, this is unfortunate. We can still proceed but these commits will say that user name and wont be associated with their github names since we dont know the email address. All we need is an email adress.

Also note that this cannot be changed after the migration (can be cahnged with --force push but that is a huge no no!) because all the forks that people will have would become messed up.

err....   we are going to open our emails again? I'm so full of spam. Isn't there a way to just give usernames instead? I don't really want my email open on committs going forward?

I updated myself on the list, however before I did it said

gurkapa = Kanika Gupta <[e-mail]>

If Kanika Gupta should be on that list, it would seem that someone has mapped that name and address incorrectly.
