Regarding GSoC Idea-Automate JavaScript tests in an integration environment using Arquillian

My name is Malith Dhanushka and I am a final year undergraduate student from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka. I am interested in this idea for my GSOC 2012 project. Currently I am going through the given references. It would be grateful If I can have more details/suggestions on the approach and further clarification of the scope.

great to hear that you are interested in this project!

Welcome to the JBoss community and GSOC 2012!

I will elaborate more on details later, but for the initial idea, scope is:

• get familiarized with JSTD/QUnit integration
• integrate with continuous integration systems
  • there are two proposals how to achieve that:
    
  • integrating with JSTD
    • Arquillian extension to start JSTD server
    • Arquillian extension to drive the test
      • this will built on top of existing tools
        • Arquillian Drone will start browser
        • you will instruct JSTD to connect to this browser
        • you will instruct JSTD to load the test suite from given configuration
    • collect results and export them to the format understandable Jenkins (XML)
  • custom QUnit runner using Selenium
    • read the sequence of tests in the initial phase
    • register tests in JUnit
  • start the actual test from Selenium
  • read results and expose them to JUnit
• integrate with IDE
  • Eclipse already has JSTD runner integrated
  • the missing piece is tool which would allow to start the test from the IDE

This will surely need following skills:

• Java
• JavaScript
• Arquillian / SPI
• QUnit
• little bit of Eclipse hacking

Hi Lukas,

Thank you for the futher clarification of the scope. I have a sound knowledge in Java,JavaScript and Eclpse development. So these days I am getting  familiarized with Aquillian and other required technologies mentioned in the project Idea. I will update this thread with my progress.

I am realy sorry I couldn't ack the thread since i was stuck with my final year project stuff and few university exams. I wasn''t able to finaize a proposal on time for the $Subject. I saw a discussion has fired on ralated to this idea ,if there is any chance i would like to contribute for the road map of the $Subject.
