    Live-backup replication and local persistence

I've been reading through the description of the fast local persistence and also how live-backup replication is performed and I had a question. Presumably, the fast local persistence is to support very high volumes of messages, but then replicating this over the wire to the backup server may not be able to keep up at the same pace as they're persisted locally, right? And if that's the case, it would seem that a crash on the live server can result in the client believing a message was successfully queued but in reality it never made it to the backup (now live) server. Or does the live server not respond to the client until the message has been successfully persisted AND replicated?

      Thanks,
      Dave
