High Light Column in richfaces extended data table

Hi,

I have a extended datatable where I display columns dynamically. I have empty row at first. When click on the empty row, I display an 'X' mark in the column. But I want to high light the entire column values when click on any column.

For example, in the image When I click on the Pay Type column, I have to high light only the Pay Type column values. how can I acheive this?

Any Idea?
