1. Re: page not found issue on setting up virtual host on jboss 7 AS
ctomc Apr 2, 2012 3:18 PM (in response to kblurry)Hi,
as you configured that your virtual host helloworld.businessname.com has default-web-module helloworld
your application should be accessable on http://helloworld.businessname.com:8555/ if you would omit default modul setting it would be accessibile as you predicted.

6. Re: page not found issue on setting up virtual host on jboss 7 AS
chaitu1011 Apr 5, 2012 4:07 AM (in response to kblurry)and when i mean registered domain, you have to register the host name in your C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc hosts file
just type your host name beside your ip in hosts.txt file ...

7. Re: page not found issue on setting up virtual host on jboss 7 AS
kblurry Apr 5, 2012 8:56 AM (in response to chaitu1011)yeah i just found out about the etc/host file. I entered this:
<ipaddress> <pc name> helloworld.businessname.com
With this I can login to
http://helloworld.businessname.com:port/myapp just fine however when I try to access this on another pc on the network It says page not found but i can access the ip (http://<ipaddress>:port/myapp)
as well as the host name (http://<pcname>:port/myapp)
But I need it to be accessible with the custom url/domain that i created in the etc/host file.
Chaitanya you can try this
<subsystem xmlns="urn:jboss:domain:web:1.1" native="false" default-virtual-server="helloworld.businessname.com">
<connector name="http" protocol="HTTP/1.1" scheme="http" socket-binding="http"/>
<connector name="https" protocol="HTTP/1.1" scheme="https" socket-binding="https" enable-lookups="false" secure="true">
</connector>
<virtual-server name="default-host" enable-welcome-root="true">
<alias name="localhost"/>
<alias name="example.com"/>
</virtual-server>
<virtual-server name="helloworld.businessname.com" default-web-module="helloworld">
<alias name="helloworld.businessname.com"/>
</virtual-server>
I was able to go my app with
http://helloworld.businessname.com:<port> without having the "/myapp". Not sure if this is what you're looking for

8. Re: page not found issue on setting up virtual host on jboss 7 AS
chaitu1011 Apr 5, 2012 11:20 AM (in response to kblurry)hi kblurry grep
well, i set my context root to / in jboss-web.xml , so my requirement was to just access the login.jsf page with url like ip:port
something like testmysite:80
before i used to access login.jsf with this url "testmysite:80/login.jsf"
i found the solution for that here https://community.jboss.org/message/699612#699612
now i can access my login page just by entering testmysite:80

9. Re: page not found issue on setting up virtual host on jboss 7 AS
chaitu1011 Apr 5, 2012 11:24 AM (in response to kblurry)1 of 1 people found this helpfuland regarding your query, you wouldn't be able to access with your hostname from another pc , cuz, obviously its loccal to your pc. i think there would be wiondows on your network drive
go to etc/host on your network drive and configure the same thing.
cheers

10. Re: page not found issue on setting up virtual host on jboss 7 AS
kblurry Apr 5, 2012 2:42 PM (in response to chaitu1011)Chaitanya can you access your app on another PC within the network? Are you still using alias?
I tried adding this the etc/hosts on another pc within the network together with my own etc/host on my pc. It worked but it's not ideal. I would like for it to be accessed without having to add this on the remote pc.
<ipaddress> <pc name> helloworld.businessname.com
I tried adding the <ipaddress> helloworld.businessname.com
on the server's etc/host but it didn't work. It worked only if i added the <ipaddress> helloworld.businessname.com on a pc that im using to access it. -
