1. Re: java.lang.illegalstate Exception
jaikiran Mar 30, 2012 3:30 AM (in response to brahmaiah)The real issue is "java.lang.IllegalStateException: Parameter count exceeded allowed maximum: 512". So your request has more than 512 parameters? I don't see a way to change the maximum allowed in the AS7 web subsystem.

pauld1119 Apr 24, 2012 9:44 AM (in response to brahmaiah)Someone I work with found this solution:
Add the following system property to the configuration file(eg standalone.xml).<property name="org.apache.tomcat.util.http.Parameters.MAX_COUNT" value="10000"/> -

wdfink Jul 4, 2013 4:33 AM (in response to shreyasee.bais)Hi Shreyassee,
do you use AS7.x?
the standalone.xml is the main configuration file located in JBOSS_HOME/standalone/configuration

10. Re: java.lang.illegalstate Exception
manusingh Sep 11, 2013 7:25 PM (in response to brahmaiah)I am also getting same error with Jboss5.1
java.lang.IllegalStateException: Parameter count exceeded allowed maximum: 512
org.apache.tomcat.util.http.Parameters.addField(Parameters.java:218)
I read that by using system property org.apache.tomcat.util.http.Parameters.MAX_COUNT this will be resolved.
But where to use this property in Jboss5.1 configuration? There is no standalone.xml file in Jboss5.1.
Please provide the details in which file we can use this property. I am getting this error since more than a week.

11. Re: java.lang.illegalstate Exception
kabirkhan Sep 12, 2013 5:13 AM (in response to manusingh)JBoss 5 is old, so I don't remember. However, it looks like there could be a properties-service.xml somewhere which someone could not find in AS 7: JBoss AS7 and properties-service.xml
Alternatively, you could try starting JBoss 5 passing in -Dorg.apache.tomcat.util.http.Parameters.MAX_COUNT=1024 (or whatever number you like) on the command line.
