1. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
snjeza Jul 26, 2012 2:27 PM (in response to kdeanddd)This issue happens in Eclipse when downloading an artifact fails (your connecton is bad or some update site is high loaded, for instance).
I propose to repeat the update more times without restarting Eclipse because in that case Eclipse won't download those artifacts that have been downloaded and will resume downloading failed artifacts.

2. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
kdeanddd Jul 26, 2012 3:40 PM (in response to snjeza)When I try to do an update after the failure, it fails immediately; it doesn't look like it's retrying any download. It's always the same bundle that fails, so it's not an issue with intermittent connectivity on my side. How can I verify the availability of the bundle itself?

3. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
snjeza Jul 26, 2012 4:56 PM (in response to kdeanddd)The plugin is placed in http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/stable/indigo/plugins/org.jboss.tools.central.discovery_1.0.1.v20120715-0355-H112-Final.jar
but you don't have to install it.
What update site have you used?
If that site contains the JBoss Central Discovery feature, you need to exclude it.

maxandersen Jul 31, 2012 9:32 AM (in response to kdeanddd)I wonder how you got that plugin in there in the first place ?

6. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
kdeanddd Jul 31, 2012 9:38 AM (in response to maxandersen)I downloaded everything that was at this link:
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/indigo/
At the time that I configured my Eclipse environment, the tools were still in the development stage.

maxandersen Jul 31, 2012 11:06 AM (in response to kdeanddd)Downloaded how ?
the discovery feature doesn't show up in Eclipse install dialog when you use that updatesite.
Did you download each linked artifact manually and installed manually ?

8. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
kdeanddd Jul 31, 2012 11:14 AM (in response to maxandersen)Here are the instructions from the developer setup guide I put together when I configured the environment:
a. Select “Help | Install New Software…”
b. Uncheck “Group items by category”
c. Select the "JBoss Tools" site (previously configured as the above URL)
d. Select the components
e. Press “Next >”
f. Press “Next >” (if available).
g. Select “I accept the terms of the license agreements” (if available).
h. Press “Finish”
It may have been installed as a dependency. Here's the complete list of addiitonal software needed for our environment:
Site name
Location
Subclipse
GlassFish
JBoss Tools
http://download.jboss.org/jbosstools/updates/development/indigo/
Eclipse 3.7 WindowBuilder Repo
http://download.eclipse.org/windowbuilder/WB/integration/3.7/

maxandersen Jul 31, 2012 11:40 AM (in response to kdeanddd)Kevin,
Gotcha - the kicker is step b.
Unchecking "group items by category" you get *everything* which will get you that discovery plugin.
Don't do that
I'll look at options to prevent this corner case from happening in future releases.

10. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
kdeanddd Jul 31, 2012 11:43 AM (in response to maxandersen)Ah, OK. Unchecking "Group items by category" was necessary because in at least one iteration of the GlassFish plugin, the list was empty. I'll update the documentation.
Now, how do I get rid of this plugin?

11. Re: Problem updating tools in Eclipse
maxandersen Jul 31, 2012 11:59 AM (in response to kdeanddd)yeah - might be Glassfish forgot to list their installable stuff.
You should be able to uninstall features via the Help > About dialog under Installation details.

nickboldt Oct 11, 2012 10:38 AM (in response to kdeanddd)When you select the discovery feature, the description states:
JBoss Central Discovery - do not install this feature; instead, it will be discovered and used with JBoss Central.
For future, we'll look at removing the feature entirely to avoid it being accidentally installed. https://issues.jboss.org/browse/JBIDE-12389
