How to do timing task?

In JBPM5, I want to use the Timer node to do timing task, a task in a certain period of time after the implementation of or within a specified period of time to perform,but not cycle execution。How to deal with it?I hope everyone can help me, thank you very much.

could you please elaborate little bit more about your goals here?

For example: a process inside a task over two hours and did not finish, then I will use email to remind the user. May I ask timer node can complete it?
