Having an Issue with Fonts with RichFaces Components

I'm using RF 4.2.2.  Seems to be working fine and I'm using deepMarine skin.  Looks great but the font on the selected item is soooooo small I can hardly see it, So small I can't read it.

Here is what it looks like, As you can see the font looks correct in the list but it's just a tiny line when selected in the box. 

I appreciate any help or direction you can provide.  Can't seem to find a property or setting that will change it.

I don't think this is a font problem. Does the component have an initial value?

Try adding defaultlabel="Please select"  to the component, and see what happens.

That small line you see above the dropdown value of alexis is actually my defaultlabel value.  it's just so small you can't read it.
