    Timestamps on Milestone releases

We are tossing around the idea of dropping the timestamp from the milestone release versions, as they are cumbersome, and are of questionable value.  The version scheme for JBoss Projects is laid out here:

      https://community.jboss.org/wiki/JBossProjectVersioning

The benefits of the timestamp on the milestone version are to provide proper ordering of the releases.  This is of benefit to OSGI users (although I don't know how) and to maven dependency resolution when the version is not directly specified.

What does the RichFaces community think?  Do the above benefits of including the timestamp in milestone versions make it worthwhile to include them?  Or are they too cumbersome and we should just drop them?

Note: One alternative is to switch to the alpha/beta version scheme, and achieve proper version ordering without needing to include the timestamp.
