JBoss AS - Nightly builds available for download

Some of the community users might already know this, but for those who aren't aware, the JBoss AS team publishes its nightly builds through a Hudson job at http://hudson.jboss.org/hudson/view/JBoss%20AS/. For example, the JBoss AS 6.x nightly builds are available via this job http://hudson.jboss.org/hudson/view/JBoss%20AS/job/JBoss-AS-6.1.x/. Click on the zip file link under the "Last Successful Artifacts" to download the latest nightly build (http://hudson.jboss.org/hudson/view/JBoss%20AS/job/JBoss-AS-6.1.x/lastSuccessfulBuild/artifact/JBossAS_6_1/build/target/jboss-6.1.x.zip). The installation of the AS, from the nightly build, is exactly the same as what you do with a released version. Just unzip it to a folder of your choice and start using it.

How/When to use such nightly builds:

Many of the community users report bugs either in the forums or in the JIRA. Those get fixed in due course of time and are available in the next released versions of JBoss AS. However, whenever a bug (which you are interested in or which you reported) is marked as fixed in the JIRA, it helps if the community users download the nightly builds and test that the bug is indeed fixed and it doesn't lead to any side effects. Ofcourse, the developer who fixed the bug would for sure have tested it on his own before marking it fixed, but additionally testing it with some of the user applications, always helps. This also means that if you notice any regressions due to the bug fix, then it is far easier to fix it before the new version gets released.

So feel free to start using the nightly builds and report any issues, that you run into, here in the forums http://community.jboss.org/en/jbossas?view=discussions
