Is it possible when setting up a daily rolling file appender to specify the Number of files to keep before purging old log files? I would like to configure my jboss to only keep 7 days worth of log files.

I have figured out how to setup the daily rolling file appender, but can not find a parameter to tell it how may days worth of logs to keep. My guess is I will have to write my own appender, but wanted to make sure nothing un-documented exists before doing that.

There is no such option in Log4J. The best you could do is write a cron script that runs daily and removes the log files that are over a week old.
