How to deploy an ear using JBoss Tools [error determining st

Hi,
I'm constantly having problems trying to deploy my ear to jboss AS 5.1.0

What I'm almost always getting is this:

Sometimes deployment does work, sometimes I have to restart the AS and sometimes it works when I undeploy the ear completely and then redeploy.

I've already lost a lost of time with this issue and i've been all over the net trying to find a solution.

Can somebody help with this?

The exception explains it all:

It looks like you sometimes have this art-web.war module listed in you application.xml, but not really present in .ear file.

I guess it randomly works when this is not listed or module is actually present in .ear.

that's right ...

sometimes JBoss Tools doesn't package it.
It is listed in the Jboss Server view. But when I look in the exploded ear directory, that war is not there. Sometimes it is, sometimes it's not, most of the time it is not.

The annoying thing is that when the error occurs I can't do a Full Publish anymore until I reboot the server. This is going to be very annoying if this happens on the production server.

Well, if this doesn't get fixed I think I'm gonna uninstall jboss Tools and go old-school and simply write an ant-script that does the packaging for me.

Maybe it would have been better to post this on a jboss Tools thread.

I installed the latest eclipse version (JEE edition) without jboss tools and now I'm constantly getting an Access Denied exception on the exploded directory when redeploying.

This is really getting on my nerves now...

You might want to bring this to the notice of the users in JBoss Tools user forum http://www.jboss.org/index.html?module=bb&op=viewforum&f=201. They might have a better idea of what's going on.

Hi,

as JBossTools is based on Eclipse/WebTools, the WAR file not being packaged issue might be caused by this WebTools bug: https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=283184

If this is the root cause, you might try to build an Eclipse package with some nightly bugfix build.

Also, what anti-virus software are you using? The one I am currently using seems to always have the file I want to edit/delete/overwrite in use. Fortunately Windows 7 tells you which app has the file open. For earlier versions of Windows, get System Monitor from SysInternals - it lets you monitor file usage.
