Jboss 7 service under linux (ubuntu)

Has anybody deployed JBoss 7 service under ubuntu system? Which version should I use to make the service?

And is there anything additional that needs to modify to successfully deploy the server? Please suggest.

You don't really *need* the native connectors for having the AS run as a service under Linux, the scripts you need are under bin/init.d.

For a system with java set up you can probably get away with doing a

ln -s /opt/jboss-as-7.1.1/bin/init.d/jboss-as-standalone.sh jboss

chmod u+x /opt/jboss-as-7.1.1/bin/init.d/jboss-as-standalone.sh

/etc/init.d/jboss start

and then

while(!working) {

     tune config

}

I used that jboss-as-standalone.sh, but there is one line in it

# Source function library.

. /etc/init.d/functions

which indicates to call functions library, but the problem is on my ubuntu server, there is no such file etc/init.d/functions actually.

Any idea?

The init.d scripts provided with a JBoss distribution are (not surprisingly) written for Red Hat style linux distributions. Personally, I use Fedora Core or Centos for development servers.

The Ubuntu distribution is fundamentally different in many ways and I suspect that you may need to work out what it's init.d style mechanism is and build your own start/stop scripts for it.

as I understood, the script itself mostly works, it the startup procedure that differs among distribution types...
