How to customize the main Portal Page ?

Hi all !

I'm just going through my first portal creation. I have created a new Portal using the default skin and added some Portlets in it.

However I cannot find a way to customize the main "Portal Page", that is the one which contains the splash screen "The Best of eXo and JBoss Portal".

As a matter of fact, there is no edit functionality in that component when going to the "Edit layout option".

From the docs it seems to me that I need to create a new skin XML file and deploy it. Is it the only way to customize the main page ? Is there a simpler way just to put an html page in it, containing a splash screen ?

The splash screen you saw actually is a portlet: "HomePagePortlet". You can find the template of that portlet here:

     GATEIN/web/portal/src/main/webapp/templates/groovy/webui/component/UIHomePagePortlet.gtmpl

We also have examples that customize that home page screen. Please take a look at: GATEIN/examples/extension

Thanks for your reply. I also found some useful quickstart demos and this raised one more question, however I'll create one more thread for this.
