ORACLE DATE fields

Is there anyone that knows how to get an ORACLE date field working with jboss.
Yes I know I am stupid.

I had an example that worked and then changed one of the fields to DATE.
I'm not really sure where to begin.
I have tried everything.

It keeps telling me the object is not Serialized.
I change the field back to a String and everything works.
I tried java.sql.Date (same message).

Please please please someone be kind and help me out without making me feel stupid.
Thanks a million.

Which version of JBoss are you using? Oracle DATEs were broken up until a few weeks ago.

I believe that they were fixed between 3.0beta and 3.0RC1.

or u can use java.util.Date
