Log files cleanup

Is there a way to configure the periodic-rotating-file-handler to delete older files? For example I want to keep only the last X log files. The size-rotating-file-handler has the max-backup-index attribute to achieve this, but I couldn't find something similar for the periodic-rotating-file-handler.

This could be done externaly with scripts, but that means there's another thing to maintain and it's also operating system dependant.

If it's not available, it could be worth a JIRA. It would be handy to have attributes like "archive-older-than" and "delete-older-than"...
