kcbabo Jan 26, 2013 2:15 PM (in response to rcernich)This is great, Rob. The "even softer" version would be my pick. Any chance we can make those dotted lines on the wiring solid?

jeffdelong Jan 27, 2013 9:10 PM (in response to rcernich)Can this be an option, to let the user pick the style they like? (I happen to like the old style)

kcbabo Jan 27, 2013 9:38 PM (in response to jeffdelong)Hey Jeff,
Can you give us an idea of which bits of the old editor you liked better? Stronger borders, straight lines, dotted lines, etc.? I'm hoping the right angle lines in the new diagram will help us scale better with lots of services. This is an object in motion, so the appearance will continue to get tweaked as we move forward. There's some cool stuff around the hover menus that we plan to do in the future that will be really nice, IMHO.cheers,

kcbabo Jan 28, 2013 7:47 AM (in response to kcbabo)Hey Rob - I don't get the right angle connections with the latest commit. Was that in there as well? I'm getting a bait-and-switch feeling here. ;-)

rcernich Jan 28, 2013 8:58 AM (in response to kcbabo)Hey Keith,
You've always had the ability to do this, it just doesn't happen automatically.
- Select a connection.
- Grab the "dot" at the midpoint.
- Drag dot to where you want a bendpoint. The connection should now have two segments.
- Repeat steps 2-3 as many times as you like.
To remove a bendpoint, simply drag one of the bendpoints on top of another.
Hope that helps.

rcernich Jan 28, 2013 9:02 AM (in response to jeffdelong)Hey Jeff,
We can certainly add preferences to allow the user to specify the color schemes used to represent the various objects. Please create a JIRA.
That said, there are probably a number of areas where we should be using preferences (e.g. default runtime version, default group id, etc.). Once we start to get feature complete, we should start looking at how users might like to configure the behavior of the tools.
Best,
Rob

kcbabo Jan 28, 2013 9:10 AM (in response to rcernich)Ah, I had no idea you could do that! It would be good to start playing with some autolayout options which take advantage of this capability. Not an emergency, obviously.
thanks,
keith

13. Re: SwitchYard Editor Design Changes
rcernich Jan 28, 2013 10:07 AM (in response to kcbabo)Note, now that the changes have been pushed, they will not be applied to existing diagrams. If you want the changes to apply to an existing diagram, you will need to delete the .diagram file located in the .xml folder in the root folder of the project (or nuke that folder altogether). The diagram(s) will be recreated the next time you open the switchyard.xml file.
Best,
Rob
