How to create a subtopic

Hello everyone,

I am trying to implement a simple push application with richfaces 4 and jboss 7.

I read some tutorials and I created a simple topic, but how do I create a subtopic? Since there seems to be a major bug in richfaces 4, we need to create subtopics in order to get the push function to work.

Do I have to configure this at the same spot as the topics and queues inside the xml file? What are subtopics exactly?

I created a "notify" topic where the server sends a message to the client how needs to refresh several parts of the page.

I hope that I can control with the subtopic what part of the page needs to be rerendered like newUserLoggedIn@notify or newMessage@notify

Do I have to create those subtopics in real, or do I create those subtopics programatcally?

HornetQ doesn't have a 'subtopic' concept. I'm not sure what you are trying to achieve, can you give more details?

Maybe you meant topic hierarchy? Take a look at the example:

I am not sure either, because I don't have so much time in the moment to experiment with that. But I read some articles and it seems that this is a function of richfaces 4 in order to manage several 'channels' over on topic.

So the idea seams to be something like this:

page1@notify

page2@notify

notify is the topic from horneq and the server sends to page1@notify if only page1 should be notified. I think richfaces analyses the message from the topic and the subtopic concept seems to be a richfaces thing.

Sorry for the question, but those fundamental basics are never discussed or described.

Like Clebert has already said there is no such thing as sub topics in HornetQ (or JMS) , however we do have topic hierarchies, for instance a message sent to queue.jms.* will go to queue.jms.q1 and queue.jms.q2.

Maybe if you explain what they are or read the rich faces docs we may be able to help you
